Bong-Ra's trademark 'jungle core' style has been moulded over the past 9 years to become a recognizable and addictive sound. Although his compostions and tracks may vary there's always an adrenaline rush of some sort buzzing around. Mostly recognized for his part in the 'Yardcore' or 'Raggacore' sub genre, his tracks differ significantly and crossover ranges of styles which have played a part in his musical development, be it Metal, Gabba, Jazz, Rave or Jungle...and so on. Most important is the energy and mood of each track produced, and the vibe surrounding it. Since the Bong-Ra birth in 1997 there's been list of releases on various different labels such as; Djax (NL), Death$ucker (UK), Russian Roulette (D), Supertracks (NL), Hydrophonic (IT), Soothsayer (USA), Ad Noiseam (D), Vynalogica (NL), Cock Rock Disco (USA), Planet –Mu (UK), Sublight (CAN), Very Friendly (UK). Releasing four full length CD's in 1998 (New Millennium Dreadz), 2003 (Bikini Bandits, Kill! Kill! Kill!), I am the God of Hellfire (2005) and Soldaat van Oranje (2006). Alongside producing and performing as Bong-Ra, both Clash Records and Kriss Records are run and owned by Bong-Ra. Clash was formed in 2001, and focusses on mainly hardcore ragga-orientated jungle. Kriss Records has a more political and/or metalbreaks edge to its sound. Releases so far have been from Parasite, KGB Kid, FFF, Drumcorps, Scotch Egg, Murderbot and Jahba. Several tours alongside Shitmat and Enduser in 2005 and Soundmurderer and DJ Scud in 2003, as well as a solo Japan tour in 2006. Furthermore Bong-Ra has played shows with the likes of Venetian Snares, dj/rupture, Panacea, Technical Itch, Dylan, Funkstorung, Remarc, Speedy J, John B, Sunn0)), Godflesh…to name a few.
Pinnacle points have been his John Peel session in 2001. Remixing 4 tracks for Venetian Snares’ masterpiece “Rossz Csillag Allat Szuletett” for Planet Mu, and achieving night rotation on Dutch MTV with his Bikini Bandits clip in 2003.
Lynn Standafer is the unassuming, mild-mannered alter-ego of the one-man sonic wrecking crew known as Enduser. Born as the bastard son of KRS-One, Skinny Puppy, and Photek, and raised on a steady diet of hip-hop and early jungle records, Enduser smashes through genre walls with alternating punches of industrial strength drum and bass and hip-hop flavored breakcore. Since 1994, Enduser has been shredding through genre tags more quickly than they can be coined to describe his unique approach to the twisted world of hardcore broken beat music. Regardless of the labels on the dividers in record bins around the world, Enduser's music will always be defined by its use of complex drum programming and darkly distorted atmospheres to create a sense of frenzied unease. Take the viscera of a Romero film and the brooding of a Clive Barker novel and then splatter it against a landscape of urban decay at 200 miles per hour and you begin to get the feeling of an Enduser record where moments of calm ambience set up the vicious assaults of rhythm and noise. Enduser's is not music for the mindless rave zombie, and it is not for the faint of heart as it tears away at preconceptions about break-beat driven music while utilizing the best tricks of that well-tested tradition to excite and entertain.
With the help of radio play from John Peel, Bailey, and the Breezeblock on Radio 1; a string of great reviews; and the backing of some of the top names in the hardcore and drum n bass worlds, Standafer's musical juggernaut has landed spots working with artists like The Bug, Panacea, Dr. Israel, Bill Laswell, NYC hardcore band Terror, and countless others. His recorded output has become the stuff of legend on respected cult labels such as Ant-Zen, Sublight, Mirex, Ad Noiseam, The Bug's Razor's X, and UK drum and bass leader Outbreak. I was always into music from an early age and started out collecting rock, metal & hip hop tapes from when I was barely old enough to wipe my own arse. Got heavily into dance music in the early 90s and started to collect jungle in 94. At first I was most into the Metalheadz sound, V Recordings/Full Cycle, Bukem/Good Looking and the early No U Turn stuff but have always had an open mind and tried to pick up the best bits of every style of the music over the years. by 95 I had learnt to mix on a mate's set of decks and first started playing out in 96. The collection kept growing and growing and the DJing work picked up. I gave up buying drum & bass some time around 2001 after years of playing pirate/internet radio and gigs all over the place. Ever since I've just played old skool through various old dnb contacts and new connections i've made and still manage to keep pretty busy for someone who is "retired".
It's always great to turn up a party and play tunes that some people might not have even heard before and to draw for tunes that are a little bit different from the same old anthems that most people seem intent on playing. It's also good to get back into the music just for the fun of it rather than worrying about a DJ career. Music is about dancing and having fun and that's what you'll get in a Haste set!

Simon Bassline Smith has been representing his sound around the globe since the early 1990’s. It was around this time that Simon started one of the first Drum & Bass labels in the world ‘Absolute2’. He introduced and established now legendary producers such as Doc Scott, Ray Keith and Nookie before concentrating on his own productions. ‘Palomino’ ‘Jungle’ ‘Music’ and ‘Life’ were all seminal tracks in what was just becoming D&B. Over the past few years Bassline Smith has secured his place in the D&B premiership. His Technique imprint goes from strength to strength and his heavyweight DJ sets have spread the Technique sound over every continent. 2004 was a massive year for Bassline Smith. Alongside Drumsound he produced the biggest track of the year for Grooveriders’ Prototype imprint. The mighty ‘Odyssey’ went on to hit the number one spot in the UK dance chart. Last year also saw a debut artist album ‘Nature of the Beast’ from the Drumsound & Bassline Smith collaboration, and a string of releases on Renegade Hardware, Creative Source, Timeless and of course their own Technique Recordings. The momentum shows no sign of halting in 2005. Ed Rush will perform on the 18 of February at The Force clubnight, in Club Decolte. The legendary DJ played an essential role in setting the foundation to the estonian drum’n’bass movement when he last visited Estonia 8 years ago. He played at an event „Tallinn Põleb” in The Estonian Academy of Art.
Ed Rush became famous mainly due to his releases under No-U-Turn recordings. He collaborated under that label with a talented producer Nico already in 1993 and released hits like „Bloodclot Artattac”, „Guncheck” and „Technology”. Although No-U-Turn recordings doesn’t exist anymore and the very promising producer Nico has also disappeared somewhere.
In the middle of the nineties the two very talented producers Ed Rush and Optical joined their forces and the resulting cuts were mindblowing. Tracks like „Funktion” and „Naked Lunch” on V recordings smashed the dancefloors all-over the world and brought that breath of fresh air to a scene overwhelmed with sub-standard Jump-Up records.

Over the past ten years Total Science (Paul “Spinback” Smith and Jason “Q-Project” Greenhalgh) have established themselves as two of the most successful producers/DJs within the drum'n'bass scene. A combination of hard work and raw talent has helped them to maintain their status within a difficult industry and also help others reach success along the way. Labels like Metalheadz, Creative Source, Trouble On Vinyl, Bingo Beats, Hospital and 31 Recs are among those to have benefited from Total Science productions of late.
Q Project and Spinback are some of the few artists in drum'n'bass today who manage to successfully produce many different styles and evade pigeonholing. In true Total Science style, they touch on all shapes and forms of drum'n'bass, making their music enjoyable for anyone who likes drum'n'bass. One can only guess what the future holds for this highly talented duo, except to say that surprises will always be expected!

[xgn007] Fucoza - Inner Monologue EP
From the creative mind of the dub influenced Fucoza, comes the 2nd EP from Exegene. He shows us a fusion of mechanical, dry sounding, driving drums with Arabic influenced vocals, strings, and tearing synthlines. The first track, B13, starts off the EP by creating an energetic creepy vibe, with some crisp snares accompanied by blips and strange noises. As the tune progresses, a mixture of strange haunting Eastern sounding strings and delayed stabs come into play. The track then drops into a quiet, chilling dialogue before going back into the heavy drums and ripping synthlines. Inner Monologue then continues the dark creepyness of the EP, with the combination of obscure background noises and tight drums. The song proceeds to breakdown into a dark and lonely ambience which then crawls back into its eerie self. For the last track Fucoza takes a new perspective on B13, adding his own flavour of dub and Arabic sounds. DuB13 carries on the arcane feel to the EP. The track proceeds like the other two, with some punchy,tight drums, while slowly some strange, but effectively used vocals emerge out of this Eastern dub influenced track. The vocals then rise above the other instruments to finish of the abstruse vibe of this EP, bring it to a close.
